About us
Experience you can borrow
FU Media has been doing this since 1999. Here's why that experience is worth something to your organisation.

Our story
We began as journalists who thought organisations deserved better than press releases nobody read. That instinct — find the real story, tell it properly, put it where the right people are — still runs through everything we do.
Since 1999 the agency has grown into a full communications consultancy: press office and crisis work, campaign strategy, publishing and editorial, digital and social, photography and film direction, and event delivery. We stayed deliberately small so that the people you meet are the people doing the work.
Most of our clients come back, and most new ones arrive by recommendation. That says more about how we work than any strapline could.
Our background
Where our experience comes from
Journalism
Newsroom careers in regional and national press. We know how stories are chosen, cut and killed — which is why ours get used.
Public Relations
Retained press offices, launches, reputational issues and crisis handling for organisations with real public accountability.
Events
Openings, media days, VIP visits, anniversaries and community engagement — planned and publicised together.
Campaigns
Multi-channel campaigns with outcomes agreed at the start and evidenced at the end.
Broadcast
Radio and television experience on both sides of the microphone, including media training that stands up under pressure.
Publishing
Magazines, guides, prospectuses and reports produced end to end: commissioning, editing, design, print buying and distribution.
Our approach
How we work

- 01
Understand
We start with the outcome, the audience and the constraints — including the honest ones about budget and internal capacity.
- 02
Find the story
Every organisation has one. Usually it's the thing people inside it have stopped noticing.
- 03
Plan properly
Clear messaging, a realistic timeline, agreed measures. No activity for the sake of a report.
- 04
Deliver
We do the work ourselves — writing, pitching, producing, running the event, answering the phone.
- 05
Report honestly
What worked, what didn't, and what we'd change. Then we do it better next time.
Meet the team
The people you'll work with

Kevin Urquhart
Co Founder & CEO
Kevin Urquhart spent his early career as a lifestyle journalist covering advertising and luxury brands — learning firsthand what makes people stop, read and care. That instinct for a good story led him to launch the iconic SIXTY9 magazine in 1999, the same year he went self-employed and never looked back. He co-created the hyper-luxury title DLUXE in 2008, before switching sides — from journalist to PR — with the launch of FU Media.
Because Kevin has sat on the other side of the desk, FU Media doesn't just pitch — it knows what earns coverage, what stops the scroll, and what actually gets people talking. That editorial instinct, sharpened over three decades, is baked into everything FU Media does: multi-platform content that tells your story to the people you want to notice.
With one of the hottest Black Books in the industry and a journalist's eye for a story worth telling, Kevin and the team at FU Media help businesses and people fast-track their growth through PR, Events, Marketing, Social Media, Connections and Mentoring.
Kevin runs FU Media his way — independent and selective about who he partners with. He's always looking to work with people and brands who share his ethics and passion for great storytelling.

Jonathan Fraser
Co Founder & COO
Jonathan Fraser is a communications and PR strategist, publisher and content creator with more than 25 years' experience helping organisations tell their stories, build their reputation and connect with audiences. As co-founder of Fraser Urquhart Media (FU Media), Jon works with organisations across the heritage, arts, tourism, culture, public sector and commercial sectors to develop ideas, campaigns and communications that deliver real results.
Because Jon has spent a career solving other people's problems, he has an instinct for spotting the opportunities others might miss. Whether it's launching a new initiative, navigating a tricky issue, attracting new audiences or finding fresh ways to generate income, he thrives on the challenge — and rarely meets a problem he doesn't enjoy untangling.
His creative skills and critical eye are exceptional, his humour endless, and his solution-focused, can-do approach nothing short of enviable. Jon brings the rare combination of strategic clarity and genuine enjoyment of the work — the person who finds the opportunity everyone else has missed, and makes solving it look easy.

Rebecca Rhodes
Director of Communications
Rebecca Rhodes started out as a journalist before crossing into PR — working in-house across a string of well-known brands, as well as the agencies who support them. She began her journey in the Regional & International PR team at Next, before going on to work with clients including Dr Martens, Goldsmiths, Parkdean Resorts, Flymo and Fenwick. She then returned to the Midlands to head up the PR team for health retailer Holland & Barrett.
Because Rebecca has worked both agency-side and in-house, she understands PR from every angle — what brands need, what journalists want, and how to make the two meet. That instinct for detail and connection is what makes her coverage stick.
Rebecca joined FU Media after partnering with the team on several projects over the years, and has since worked closely alongside them to further build the agency's PR portfolio.
Detailed, people-orientated and endlessly dependable, Rebecca is the person you want by your side — someone who brings both precision and genuine care to every story she helps tell.
