Updated: Mar 30, 2020

Michelin Recommended restaurant Chutney Ivy is celebrating its second award win of 2017 after being named Restaurant of the Year in the prestigious Leicester Curry Awards held on the 23rd April at Athena.

The awards, designed to celebrate Leicester’s rich Asian culture and the culinary craftsmanship that goes into making the city one of the UK’s most prized curry destinations, culminated in a gala dinner where Chutney Ivy scooped top prize.

Awarded following a combination of public votes and a judging session by a panel of industry experts, the award of Restaurant of the Year cements the local curry house’s reputation as the Leicester’s premier-league curry restaurant and the go to destination for those looking to enjoy a contemporary Indian fine dining experience with classic Indian hospitality.

Judges were impressed by Chutney Ivy’s team of highly trained chefs who fuse the very best of traditional Indian cooking techniques with the freshest ingredients whilst ensuring each dish receives the inimitable Chutney Ivy contemporary twist.

On being awarded Restaurant of the Year at the Leicester Curry Awards, co-owner of Chutney Ivy, Shaf Islam said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be named as Leicester’s Restaurant of the Year at an award ceremony that acknowledges and celebrates the hard work and commitment that goes into making Indian cuisine in Leicester the best in the UK.

The whole Chutney Ivy team work exceptionally hard to exceed our customer’s expectations with the best cuisine and customer service every time they visit and this award recognises efforts of every member of the Chutney Ivy family. I’m exceptionally proud of them all.”

Co-Director, Simon Postlethwaite added; “'I am very proud of how hard Shaf and his team have worked to achieve this latest accolade. To come first with such stiff competition is a true reflection of how well we serve our clients and this accounts for our high proportion of repeat & loyal customers who ultimately become part of the ‘Chutney Ivy family’. Thank you to everyone who voted for Chutney Ivy. “

With a new spring a la carte menu just around the corner, 2017 is turning out to be a winning year for the city’s favourite curry house having already been named as the Best À La Carte Indian Restaurant in Leicestershire at the Lux magazine 2017 Restaurant & Bar Awards.
